Millenium Restaurant

Millenium Restaurant in San Francisco
San Francisco's Millennium Restaurant is well known for being one of the best high-end vegetarian restaurants in the country. Their philosophy on food is presented front and center, both in house and on their website:
Millennium Restaurant is dedicated to supporting the essential earthly concepts of organic food production, small farms, sustainable agriculture, recycling and composting. We cook with fresh produce delivered every day, and choose organic whenever possible. We believe that a gourmet dining experience can be created out of vegetarian, healthy, and environmentally friendly foods. We are proud to state that our restaurant is completely free of genetically modified foods.

I had the pleasure of dining at Millennium recently and although I knew it would be good based on the high marks from my SF friends, I must admit...I was blown away. I had the wilted spinach salad followed by a fantastic mushroom gnocchi. I wish I were a food reviewer because I could write pages on the dishes I had, the incredible service, the perfectly matched wines, and the fantastic fine dining experience offered by Millennium. I hope to go back soon and often...or at least try recreate the wilted spinach salad on my own.

Compostmodern conference

The AIGA/IDSA conference Compostmodern was incredible. This was my first time hanging with a graphic design crowd and I am really impressed with the sustainability efforts underway in the industry. One big find, ReadyMade magazine. HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THESE GUYS? Check out their link and sign up...a very hip version of Martha Stewart with sustainability written all over it considering all the reuse they promote and all. I also hung out with my buddies at New Leaf Paper.

And of course what sort of style buffs would SSF be if we didn't have a couple "best dressed" picks from the Golden Globes. Our sustainable style hats are off to Jennifer Aniston and Kim Cattrall for their vintage Valentino. Jennifer seems to be making vintage a habit too. I bet she was shopping at Paper Bag Princess again.

Bioneers

Greetings from the Bioneers conference in San Rafael. What was I thinking? Why haven't I attended a Bioneers conference before??? This is where it's all at. I've done lots of green business conferences in my day but Bioneers is by the far the best...of all worlds. Business, academia, youth, government, and yes...lots of fabulous hippies, drum circles, dancing, etc.

I've hooked up with lots of old friends and made some great new ones as well. The best part so far has been the incredible energy and creativity of the youth. Their projects are incredible and their dedication is inspiring. I'll do a full write up of the weekend on Monday, stay tuned...
